Wheeled duffle bags are perfect for people only going out on short trips (1 to 2 weeks). Considerably smaller than a luggage, they offer a more manageable and mobile alternative to the hassle of constantly lugging around a big and heavy item that will make you look awkward and stressed. The wheeled duffle bag's advantage is even more apparent if you are stuck in a place with a crowd of other travelers going in different directions, since a big stocky luggage will get in the way of you and the people you pass by, constantly getting snagged and dragged in the other direction.
One of the best wheeled duffle bags I found so far is Pathfinder's Revolution LT. This rolling duffle bag is among the largest of its kind, at 32 inches by 16 inches by 16 inches, it's large enough to rival a normal luggage's carrying capacity, yet light and mobile enough to drag or roll around for long hours (useful if you got lost and had to wander around for a while). Even though it's available in black and red trims, I recommend choosing the black one because it's dark color makes it easier to hide stains and dirt, whereas the red trim can easily look dirty with just a spill of coffee, a few scrapes with dusty corridors or maybe an accidental step from a passerby.
The Revolution LT has an odd U shaped opening, as opposed to other duffle bags that have a standard, single zipped opening. The unusual shape has a purpose, though, as it makes packing and grabbing stuff out of its roomy interior fast and easy, and it becomes more apparent when you're in a hurry. A normal shapeless opening will make your items fall on top of each other, resulting in a clutter that may spill out of your bag with one careless tug of an item. The U shaped opening, on the other hand, gives your items a semi arranged form, facilitating easy removal of an item without taking the rest with it.
One more thing I noticed with the Revolution LT is that it may be the quietest wheeled duffle bag I have tested so far. Other similar wheeled duffle bags roll around with that annoying, metallic clutter coming from the ball bearings and various rivets brushing against surfaces, but the Revolution LT gets rid of this annoying noise by using silent ball bearings and uses screws instead of rivets at various stress points. So you can roll around quietly and without attracting too much attention from people.
The Revolution LT is not the cheapest wheeled duffle bag I have found, and while I didn't do much shopping and price comparison, I can easily see that it's priced at the midrange. But the high quality, comfortability and its several useful features more than justifies its less than satisfactory price. In the travel industry, you usually get what you pay for but as far as this wheeled duffle bag is concerned, you may actually get a little more than what you shell out.
